The story goes that Aeolus,the ruler of the winds,had a daughter named Alcyone,who was married to Ceyx,the king of Thessaly. Calm,peaceful days.
They were happy together in Trachis,and according to Pseudo-Apollodorus' account,often sacrilegiously called each other "Zeus " and "Hera".
This angered Zeus,so while Ceyx was at sea,the god threw a thunderbolt at his ship. Ceyx appeared to Alcyone as an apparition to tell her of his fate,and she threw herself into the sea in her grief. Out of compassion,the gods changed them both into halcyon birds. Thus,describe them as "Halcyon days".

これは、"テッサリア"の王"ケーユクス"と結婚した、風の支配者"アイオロス"の娘である"アルキュオネー"の物語である。
平穏で平和な日々であった。
彼らは、"トラーキース"で共に幸せな日を送っていたそうだが、"ビブリオテーケー"の記録によると、よく"ゼウス"と"ヘーラー"を侮辱する態度を取っていたそうだ。
これに怒った"ゼウス"は、海にいた"ケーユクス"の船に雷を落とした。
"ケーユクス"は"アルキュオネー"の元に亡霊として現れ、自分の運命を話した。それを知った"アルキュオネー"は、その身を深い悲しみとともに海へ投げ捨てた。
そんな哀れみとは他に、神たちは、この2人を"ハルシオン（カワセミ）"に変えてしまった。
こうして、この事を"平穏日"と言われるようになった。
